Rights after Death
Protecting the dignity and privacy of those who cannot speak for themselves

About Rights after Death
Rights after Death is an organization dedicated to protecting the health information and personal dignity of deceased vulnerable children and people from public exploitation. Founded after the founder’s daughter was murdered and her private Medical Examiner’s Report was exploited by media, the organization addresses a critical gap in privacy law by advocating for HIPAA-like protections that extend beyond death. We recognize that the absence of these legal safeguards causes profound trauma for families and loved ones, allowing sensitive medical and personal information to be published that would be confidential if the person were alive.
Through networking and advocacy efforts, Rights after Death works with local politicians and community leaders to enact meaningful legal changes that prevent journalists and media outlets from exploiting private health information of deceased victims. Our mission is to ensure that the memory and dignity of those who have passed are honored and protected, while supporting the families left behind in their grief and healing.

Public Awareness and Education
Through community outreach and educational campaigns, we raise awareness about the critical gap in privacy law and how the absence of legal protections allows journalists to exploit sensitive medical and personal information of deceased victims, causing additional trauma to families.
Family Support and Advocacy Services
We provide support and advocacy services to families and loved ones of deceased victims, helping them navigate the emotional impact of privacy violations and connecting them with resources and legal guidance to protect their family members’ dignity and memory.
